  • What Luck

So I asked her to the V-day banquet Wednesday. She said she would love to go with me, but then she informed me that I would have to call her father for permission. This I was fine with. It’s what I want my daughters to say when they are asked. I decided I would call Friday, but I had to work and didn’t have the time, so today was the day chosen to make the call. I got the number, and last night I turned my phone off, plugged it into the charger, and went to sleep.

Today, my phone won’t even turn on.

Why does such luck follow me wherever I go? It doesn’t always show itself in important things like this, but still, it is ever-present. From bad draws in card games and awful rolls of the dice to car break downs and missed opportunities. It can really be a downer sometimes.

Maybe it’s karma, like old traditions say. If so, I must’ve done something horrible in a past life.

I’m not saying I fully support the ideas of luck and karma, but maybe there’s something to it

What are your thoughts on luck? Do you have good, bad, or any at all? Do you believe in luck?

  • Aww bummer! I hope you were able to find a way to call her father! And I like your idea of your daughter wanting your permission – so old-fashioned :) I kinda wish my parents had been like that with me.

I more believe in prayer than luck. :)

  • I hope you managed to get in touch with her father.
I don’t know about luck.  I think luck counts, but couldn’t tell you if mine is good, bad, or indifferent.

  • You should probably ask her dad face to face if you can instead of calling. Maybe that’s the message the broken phone is giving you?

  • If you blow this date I’ll kick your ass, man. Go the old fashion way. Find a street phone, those are still around believe or not and make the call !

If karma is effecting you its because you are creating your destiny. I expect your next blog to say that you got lucky. I’m counting on you, my brother.

  • Aw, darn.
I hope you got ahold of her father! I’m so glad she said “yes”!!!
I don’t believe in luck…I think things happen a certain way for a reason. I don’t always figure out the reason…but sometimes I do, and in the end it’s usually good.
    HUGS!

  • @The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - What if SuperMan is in the phone booth?!

  • @AdamsWomanFell - I guess then, his best bet is to walk to the door, knock on it and introduce himself. He will need to take an extra pair of under shorts just in case he shits in his pants. But, I have great expectations for my Tigah buddy and in the end he will end up n top, if you know what I mean..

  • @Cestovatelka - The old fashioned traditions make everything seem so much more romantic lol. And prayer is definitely something I believe in, but it doesn’t always change things. (Though things will always work out for our good.)

    @C_L_O_G - I haven’t yet. But hopefully tomorrow.

@oledphatnuglee - I’d prefer face to face, but he’s in Texas, and I’m in Michigan, so that’d be a tad difficult.

@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - Lol! I am not going to blow it lol.

@AdamsWomanFell - I hope so too lol. And I definitely agree about that last part, I guess I just feel better being able to blame something for things that I don’t think should be happening, and so I blame luck.

  • Yes, I suppose it would be.
